These soldiers service records are known as the "Burnt Papers" as they were bombed during WW2 and partially destroyed. Only about 30-40% have survived and the majority of Foskett soldiers do not appear. Many of the remaining papers are in very poor condition and are often difficult to read, hence some of the dates/numbers may be incorrect.
The records are at the National Archives at Kew and can contain the following information: year of birth, town and county of birth, places served, period of time served, next of kin. A description of the recruit and his occupation at time of enlistment is included. Where the soldier is married, the records often hold the name of his wife, the date of his marriage and birth dates of any dependent children. However, it should be stated that not all the records are so comprehensive.
Where a soldier has enlisted twice, I have included a second entry for him in the index.

I have searched all these records at Kew and listed below is just the index. If you would like full details, please email me.
