Emigrated to USA in 1912. Sailed from Liverpool with wife, two children and widowed mother on SS Haverford, arriving in the port of Philadelphia 23 March 1912. They were planning to join his mother's brother, Thomas Newman, at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Alfred is described as being 5ft 7in tall, with fair complexion, brown hair and grey eyes. Their last permanent residence in England was Leamington. His sister, Mrs Cotton, of 4 Tower? St, Warwick was a relative back in England. Both Alfred and his wife could read and write.
