Enlisted as a private on the 3rd Bn London Regiment 10 Jun 1915, claiming to be 19 years of age and address given as 62 Pearman St, Westminster. Mother wrote to army 16 Jan 1916, claiming he was too young to serve and he was discharged 21 Feb 1916, However it would appear he re-enlisted at a later date and served in France from May 1918 until Sep 1918, where he received slight wounds to his forearms.
