Ezra was charged with stealing clothing and sent for Trial on 01 Jul 1863. He was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years transportation and penal servitude. On 13 Aug 1863 he was transferred from Bedford Gaol to Millbank to await transportation.
Either he was not eventually transported or he served his prison sentence in Australia and then returned to England.
In 1880 he is introuble once again, being charged with Larceny at Bedfordshire Assizes, found guilty and sentenced to 2 calendar months imprisonment.
Ezra is missing from the 1881 census.
