Frank Evelyn was the proverbial black sheep of the family. Although married he has a liaison with Alice Robbins who became pregnant. In May 1914, as an accountant with Islington Borough Council, he absconded with the payroll from the safe and fled abroad, leaving both his wife and the pregnant Alice behind. After investigation it was discovered that nearly £2000 was missing from the accounts. Despite considerable searching, his whereabouts have never been discovered. It is assumed that he died abroad somewhere.
