Notes for: Nathaniel Hyer FOSGATE

Nathaniel was known as Hiram N. He was in the Civil War Co C 61st NYS Volunteers.
A story recalled by his great grandson Clyde Fosgate is: Hiram N was a carpenter and went to Wisconsin to help a relative (possibly Philo Fosgate) settle a quartersection purchased there. While working Hiram was lifted in the eye of a tornado and then dropped by the storm. He suffered extensive cranial damage and the administering surgeon implanted a steel plate in his head. After returning home he became deranged and died of his wounds.
