Leon and Elizabeth were living in the upper rooms of the Pharsalia Cheese Factory when it caught fire one night, Leon carried Rlizabeth and the children out of the building, but Elizabeth had been severely burned. She was recovering in the Cortland Hospital when a heat lamp exploded near her and she died from the shock.
