Absolom Gardner in his book on Wales families says of Susanna -
So tough and hardy was she, that, in her years of child-bearing, it was said of her sarcastically, of course, that at her times of travail, she would herself go for the doctor and have a safe delivery in her vehicle homeward going. She was a large, stout-made, two-handed woman.
