Notes for: Samuel Cotton GRAY

Samuel went to California early in 1849 and thus was one of those known as "Argonauts". He went at once to the town of Benicia and resided there for the rest of his life. He served as County Treasurer, two terms. He was Town Trustee and was active in local affairs. He was a member of the Society of Pioneers, member and at one time Presideny of the Handel and Haydn Society of San Francisco and was a zealous layman of the Protestant Episcopla Church.
