He retained the homestead; he settled his four sons on his extensive domain. He and his wife finally joined the Shakers of Harvard, MA. They appear in the 1850 census for Harvard (United Brethren of Shakers): Luke, age 62, broom-maker and Mary, age 58, a matron.
