William was living in 1860. His age in the 1850 and 1860 censuses would make his birth year 1785. He gave both NH and CT as his birthplace. The family came to PA ca 1831. He was in Jay, Essex Co, NY in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 census and which indicate that there were more children than those listed.
In 1810 there are 2 males under 10 listed;
in 1820 1 male under 10, 2 aged
10-15, 2 females under 10, 1 female 16-25;
in 1830 there are 2 males 15-20
& 1 m 20-30, 1 f under 5, 2 age 5-10 & 2 age 10-15.
