Lieutenant.
He was educated in the old Brimmer School in Boston.
Enlisted in the Civil War 25 Apr 186, mustered 31 Jul 1861; mustered out 16 Sep 1864 but re-enlisted and drilled the battery in Boston.
He was in the grocery business in Boston; in 1869 and 1870 he was a merchant tailor, then went into the real estate business there.
In 1872 he removed to Chicago, IL, where he was in real estate and also engaged in the storage business. In 1900 he returned to Massachussets and lived in Melrose. While in Chicago he served as a deputy sheriff of Cook County for 8 years.
