Notes for: Artemas CROUCH

This family may not be complete as in the census records for NY Sate in 1825 he had 3 sons and 3 daughters and in 1840 he had 5 sons and 4 daughters. The 1865 census states that they had 11 children. Artemus settled in Italy in Yates Co. in 1813. He became a convert to the Free Will Baptist faith and was licensed to preach. Unable to own a horse, he was obliged to go to his appointments on foot and, receiving little or no pay, he was finally obliged to desist from preaching. He was 84 years old when he died.
