Notes for: Asa KNIGHT

He was a prominent and leading citizen of Dummerston where he was deputy Sheriff for 7 years, later a representative to the state legislature and Probate Judge in 1835-1837. He moved to Newfane in 1824 and kept the jail there for 2 years, then moved back to Dummerston and owned a store which is now in Old Sturbrudge Village. He acquired extensive knowledge of the law (though not a lawyer) and his judgement was excellent in business and legal problems.
