Obit: Woodstock: Jennie C Dodge, 104, formerly of Rocky Hill Rd., died yesterday at the Westview Convalescent Center in Dayville following a brief illness. She was the widow of Harris Dodge who died in 1925.
She was born in Charlton, MA Aug 22 1881, a daughter of the late Dan and Millia (Davis) Foskett and had been a Woodstock resident for the past 35 years. Mrs Dodge was a graduate of Nichols Academy in Dudley, MA and had been a teacher in several one-room schools including the Ramshorn School in Dudley, MA, and schools in West Dudley, MA, and Quinebaug.
She was honored as the oldest Woodstock resident by the naming of Aug 22 as Jennie Dodge Day. The original Foskett Homestead is now Camp Foskett in Charlton, MA.
Mrs Dodge was a member of the Dudley Grange and of the National Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a son, Roland F Dodge of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Janice Dodge, Jonathan Dodge and William Dodge, all of Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews.
