Notes for: Jonathan FOSKETT

Jonathan lived in Charlestown, Medford, Grafton and Sturbridge, Ma.

In his will Jonathan names his son Jonathan, grandsons Joshua and Daniel under 21, grand-daughters Esther and Elizabeth Foskett, wife's son Samuel Rogers, his wife's grandsons Caleb and Moses Rogers.
Because he names his wife's son Samuel Rogers and 2 grandsons it would seem that Hannah (Crouch) Foskett had died and he had married a widow Hannah (______) Rogers. And that may be the case. However, widow Foskett died Stafford, Ct 20 Apr 1782 age 83 years and there is no other widow Foskett of the correct age to be anyone except Hannah (Crouch) Foskett. (Stafford Church Records)

It is possible that perhaps Hannah Crouch had an illegitimate son, Samuel Rogers, before her marriage to Jonathan Foskett. There is a Samuel Rogers who marries in Sturbridge, Ma, 29 Jun 1742 to Captivity Peters. There is also a Caleb Rogers marriage intent 17 Nov 1771 to Azubah Foster of Warren, Ma and a Moses Rogers marrying 12 Feb 1778 yo Mary Clark of Warren, Ma. (Both these from Sturbridge, Ma, vital records).

Someone in the future may have the answer to this puzzle but, for now, it is assumed that Jonathan Foskett had just the one wife.

He lived Charlestown, Medford, Grafton and Sturbridge, Mass.
