He and his brother Phineas bought the Fairmount Mills in the spring of 1859 and in 1884 it was operated by Joseph Benson Crouch & Co. In 1872 the Crouch brothers erected a 4 story brick mill in Erie, PA. (History of Erie Co., PA, 1884)
