He was called Jack and he told his children that he left home at the age of 15, following his father's death. He did odd jobs. The 30's saw him bootlegging and then car sales. His real love was the woods, however, following an injury that curtailed the heavy work of the wood he took a lease on the Redfield Hotel in Redfield, NY. He later went west to build a restaurant but the couple became homesick and moved back home and opened Seeley's Diner on Rt 1. He was a member of the Pulaski Methodist Church; Mason
