John settled on part of the old homestead, next to his brother Joel. Later he removed to Sone's Corner, near the South Bolton Depot. John was in his brother Reuben's household in the 1850 census. He is found with his family in the 1870 census but in the 1880 census he was with his second wife Elizabeth and son Leo, He is found alone in the 1900 census for Bolton, MA.
