SINI FOSKETT

Francine J. "Sini" Foskett, 72, of Clarksville, died on Thursday, May 11, 2006.

Sini was born in Manhattan on April 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Sonia (Kuretz) Rys.

Sini was an extraordinary person who taught more than just English to her students in Canaan for many years. She was an exceptional gardener who knew more about plants than most. Herbs were her specialty, and she was often referred to as "the herb lady."

She had been a nationally ranked swimmer in college, and she taught many local children how to swim and was grateful to have the new community pool in which to teach her grandson. She was involved in AmeriCorps and was proud of her service.

She was a mother, an artist, a writer, a reader who had a love for all books, and a member of the Women?s League. She also served as a school board member and periodically as chairman of the school board. She enjoyed watching the news and the Boston Red Sox on television. She was politically active and thought that voting was important.

She loved animals, especially Siamese cats, and she raised them all of her life. She loved her truck, "Rosie," and her house on the hill more than any place on Earth. While the last nine years of her life were filled with pain and hardship, she was courageous and remained active, even returning to school last year. Sini made friends wherever she went and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Sini is survived by her husband, Peter Foskett of Colebrook; a daughter, Sharon Dronia and her family of Albany, Vt.; two sons, Darach Foskett of California, and Jamison Foskett and his family of Clarksville; and her beloved cat, Eddy.

Sini is preceded in death by her son, Sean Foskett, whom she missed dearly.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held by her family at her home in Clarksville in June, with the date and time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy in Sini's memory may be made to the Colebrook Public Library, c/o Julie Colby, Main Street, Colebrook, NH 03576; or the North Country Community Recreation Center and Pool, 170 Main Street, Colebrook.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home of Colebrook. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman. com.
