Hosea came to LaFayette, OH in 1842 with his grandfather after his mother died. He is living with his grandfather in 1850 in Lafayette, Medina, OH.

He served nearly 3 years in the Civil War, first in Co K 42nd Regiment of Ohio Volunteer Infantry and last serving as Captain of Cos I & D. He was engaged in the clothing business and a farmer and retail grocer. He was elected County Treasurer in the fall of 1872 and served 2 terms.

He and Nancy were married by Rev G S Davis, the Rector of the Episcopal Church.

There was a Peter Foskett aged 22 born NY in the 1860 census for Medina, OH, a teacher living with Caleb Drake. In Porter Hosea's Pension Record there is a paper where he is listed as Peter H Foskett.

In the 1870 Census Hosea's sister Sarah 18 and Frank Drake 15 were living with them. The latter was the son of Lucy Foskett who had married Caleb Drake.

In 1900 census for Montville Twp, Medina: Hosea P Foskett b NY Mar 1839; Nancy his wife born Mar 1839 and Helen his daughter born Jun 1870.
