Isaac came in to the care of Dr Barnardo's after the death of both his parents. He was shipped to Canada on the SS Sardinian, which departed from Liverpool on 28 Jun 1894 and arrived in Quebec on 09 Jul in the same year. His destination was given soley as "Quebec". (Details from Home Children Database of Canada at: http://www.ist.uwaterloo.ca/~marj/genealogy/homeadd.html) However, Issac must have returned to England sometime later, as he is found amongst the Boston Port Arrivals in 1903 on the SS Mayflower out of Liverpool. en route to Canada. Perhaps he had returned to England in the hope of establishing some link with his family there, however, this family had become widely dispersed by this time.
